Station 59 volunteers study and train extensively to be ready to respond on moment’s notice to help people in trouble on the water.
In addition to meeting stringent sea time qualifications annually, the minimum certifications required to qualify as a crew member include but are not limited to:
- Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate
- Restricted Operator’s Certificate – Maritime
- Marine Basic First Aid + CPR/AED Level C
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency
- RCM-SAR’s own comprehensive training program
- Advanced Crew and Coxswains acquire and maintain higher-level qualifications as required
